Swaddle-mi-Bili is a wearable, portable, low-cost treatment for neonatal jaundice. Jaundice is a disease that affects 60% of newborns that can cause mental retardation in infants if not treated immediately after birth. Current treatments are cumbersome and require the baby to be away from its mother, causing a stressful experience. There is a need for a device that allows the baby to be held by the mother during treatment, allowing for maternal-infant bonding and breastfeeding. Swaddle-mi-Bili promotes this bonding while effectively treating jaundice using traditional phototherapy technology and fiber optics. We are developing a business model so that our device can be sold directly to nurse managers at hospitals.
